Ben Burnett: Government Shutdown Fallout, Obamacare Changes Coming

money and medicine photo

The government shutdown is ending and life is returning to normal….for now. Ben reviews the passing of the clean Continuing Resolution, its effects it has had on the economy, the political angles that Democrats were employing to justify the shutdown, and the upcoming budget vote after the Continuing Resolution expires in February.

Unfortunately, the Republicans also had a messy first year in control of Congress. Ben breaks it down and reveals where the Republicans need to improve if they are to remain in control of the House and Senate and why it’s so important that they do!

Finally, with the upcoming budget votes, Republicans are looking to make necessary changes to Obamacare or develop its replacement. Ben thinks that may be a breaking point for legislation that will be very hurtful, but it will also probably be the right thing. Find out why!

I think the Republicans, I say it all the time, I think they spend too much money. I think that they have a lot of great ideas at the executive branch. I think Donald Trump has suffered some losses in popularity, mostly due to Congress’ inability to do anything, but that is what it is. I’m a big fan of his foreign policy. I’m a big fan of the pressure campaign on Venezuela and the drug boats. I’m a big fan of getting the NATO countries to commit to 5% GDP into defense spending. We’ve done that for a long time. It’s worked out well for us. But I do have a lot of concerns, especially coming out of election season.
