Steak Tips – 1/29/16

Jan 29, 2016 — 4:46pm

What’s America’s worst restaurant appetizer and worst NBA press conference…yes it’s another edition of:

STEAK TIPS

dimitrovI think that Thomas Dimitroff will be praying every night in 2016 that Vic Beasley has a 10 sack season.

Fried calamari may be the most over-rated restaurant item in the history of the world.

I think that listening to Dan Quinn do press conferences is one of the most non descript things ever.

Matt Damon just happens to be the perfect Hollywood star, makes legendary films, doesn’t act like a tool and stays the hell out of the tabloids.

I think I am definitely rooting hard against LeBron James in whatever playoff series he finds himself in.

Jeff Teague some day you will look back and wonder why it is u just didn’t seem to play about 30% harder most nights.

Boston Cream Pie is a farce, no one really cares for it and it’s only real place is in the line of a cafeteria.

The veal parmesan at Ford Fry’s new restaurant Marcel is what would convince aliens that we are the most sophisticated planet in the galaxy.

I think the Red Sox and Blue Jays are going to have a helluva race in the American League East.

The kids at Georgia right now are about to realize that they never truly knew what hard work in the gym was all about.

The most gifted artist in our country is named Steph Curry.

Forget Mike Smith or Dan Quinn, the worst post game press conferences in Atlanta history have to go to Coach Bud.

When you find a great order of fried clams and tartar sauce in Atlanta, text me, tweet me, scream at me in a mall, I need them!!

College basketball is better when the Tar Heels are contending for a national title.

Old episodes of “Three’s Company” are so incredibly unfunny it is shocking.

I have never met a woman over 25 that did not love the restaurant “True Food” at Lenox Mall.

What the hell and I do mean what the hell were the Hawks thinking with the Tim Hardaway Jr. trade.

An toasted english muffin is simply the perfect vessel to deliver the perfect breakfast sandwich.

There is nothing that would make me happier than to see Tech basketball play meaningful games in March.

Do yourself a favor and see The Boss at Phillips Arena on February 18th……you will thank me.

Steak Tips – 1/13

Jan 13, 2016 — 9:37am

Some things floating around my head when I am not dreaming about the prime rib sandwich at Houston’s.

-The Braves will be fun, play their butt off, be unbelievably rootable but probably lose a ton of baseball games.  Take heart though folks that last Shelby Miller trade insures that the future is indeed bright.

-I am starting to think I was wrong about the future superstardom of Dennis Schroder.  The young man does not understand what it is to be focused and play hard and be unselfish on a nightly basis.

-“The Big Short” is my favorite movie of Awards season although have not see the bear eating Leonardo DiCaprio flick yet.

-I could not be rooting harder for Brian Gregory to get over the hump this year at Tech and thanks to his big guys and 3 point specialist transfer Adam Scott  it is going to happen.

-When you get the perfect Onion Soup Au Gratin on a cold winter day you have indeed reached nirvana, Bone’s and Bistro Niko are my fav.

-I think Al Horford may be playing ball in LA next year.

-Why would anyone sit through 20 below temperatures to sit and watch the NFL outside when it’s the best TV show in history?

-Watch a rerun of “One Day at a Time” or “Welcome Back Kotter” from the 70’s and tell me that is not horrendously unfunny TV.

-Julian Edelman is a serious bad ass plain and simple.

-There is no one that teaches me more about football than Chris Colinsworth on Sunday Nite Football.

-Devonta Freeman makes me smile every game I watch him play.

-I am seriously considering just sucking it up and committing binge watching “Game of Thrones” although I know it will not be good for my marriage or my family life.

-There is no finer culinary fare on the planet than the fried chicken and biscuits at “Popeyes”.

Steak Tips – 12/7

Dec 07, 2015 — 12:01pm

There was no way that McGarrity was going to let Kirby Smart end up at USC, South Carolina or anywhere else…Plain and simple Richt was never ever gonna survive regardless of what he did against the last four weaker teams on his schedule.

-Kirby was the farthest thing from a caddy to Nick Saban as the defensive coordinator….he ran that defense, coached that defense and lead that defense and will do the same with this group at Georgia.

-Jacob Eason is coming to play for the Dawgs and a huge sigh of relief will be heard all over the state.

-When you want to become Alabama you hire the guy who has the blueprint  to do that and helped execute it, good for you Greg McGarity…

-Mark Richt jumped the gun on getting back in the game and should have thought twice before leaping to coach the Hurricanes, he will have a hard time doing much better than Al Golden.

-Georgia has a very good chance of playing in the College Football Playoff next season, great schedule, Nick Chubb, Smart coaching defense, nuff said.

-Jeremy Pruitt did not make many friends on the Dawg coaching staff but most fans had no problem with is “no bull#$%&” attitude and how Dawgs played down the stretch.

-Miami 8-4 next year, South Carolina 8-4, Dawgs 10-2 and in SEC title game.

Steak Tips – 11/18

Nov 18, 2015 — 9:55am

Dennis Schroeder is a good NBA player that will truly become great when he realizes that 90 mph is not the only way to approach a trip to the basket.

If you don’t think that Kyle Shanahan has some personal vendetta against Roddy White than you also think Paul Johnson doesn’t have a chip on his shoulder.

I have never been as excited to see a movie in a long time as much as the newspaper drama “Spotlight”.

Not sure why but I can’t take my eyes off “The Leftovers” on HBO and I know it’s not a very good TV show.

Coach Bud is a helluva coach but I don’t believe he would be the first guy I would go for steak and cocktails at “Hal’s” with.

Why is it that every time I watch Kroy Biermann I know that getting a sack will be a herculean task for him?

Gumbo is not an easy dish to excel at but “Atlanta Fish Market” does as good a job as anyone in the city.

Paul Milsap was clearly injured and at 50% for last year’s playoffs, just watch his game now on a nightly basis, you will understand.

Malcolm Mitchell has returned to form nicely despite the struggles that the Dawgs have handed him at quarterback.

Peyton Manning playing quarterback right now is like watching Chevy Chase trying to be funny.

The proper home-made heated cornbread with fresh butter is one of the reasons why being alive is really nice.

I should be much more upset about the exit of Andrelton Simmons but I’m just not.

Andrew Wiggins is going to the be the ultimate “player that got away” for the Cavs and I love that.

There is a lot to like about Mark Fox and Brian Gregory, here’s hoping for a big year for both.

Steak Tips 6/5/15

Steak Tips

Jason Heyward is never ever going to make the kind of money that he and his agent believe he had coming.  250 hitters that hit 11 homers are not “break the bank” players.

Lobster macaroni and cheese is one of the most important culinary decisions since the twinkie.

I don’t know that Jeff Teague has the “it” factor to get the Hawks to a championship.

I ate dinner at the bar at Bone’s with my wife the other night and it was the best “date night” I have had in awhile…..

Pero Antic may be a wonderful guy and as Sandra likes to say a “snazzy dresser” but he needs to be playing basketball for someone other than the Hawks next year.

Fish tacos are over-rated and so is the paleo diet, why go through life without pasta that is nonsense.

DeVonta Freeman having a big year could be the difference between the Falcons wining 7 games or 10.

I have never seen a player fall out of favor quicker than Chris Johnson and if someone will take that contract he is headed out of Braves country in a big way.

When is the last time you read Rolling Stone magazine, do yourself a favor and pick one up for your next flight.

Houston’s decision to no longer serve you a club sandwich may prove to be a more disastrous decision than New Coke.

If Dan Quinn was a stock someone would be making a lot of money on him right now.

The end of the cupcake craze has restored my faith that America does know what were doing.
