I’m FIRED UP For This Year’s GA/FLA Game!

The atmosphere in Jacksonville for the Georgia-Florida Showdown is amazing! Two passionate fan bases bring an energy and excitement to this match-up that players simply don’t get anywhere else, except for the Texas-Oklahoma Shootout in Dallas. And the 50-50 fan split inside the stadium makes these games unique too.

The Bulldogs have lost 3 in a row to the Gators. Georgia fans are hungry for a win! In those three Gator victories, Florida has dominated with the run game. They’ve rushed for over 700 yards, to Georgia’s 240.

Don’t expect that trend to continue this time. Georgia is a Top-10 rushing team in College Football. The Gators defensive Front 7 has been thinned out by injuries. So, look for Chubb, Michel & Swift to have big performances. On the other side, this Bulldogs defense is playing the run tough. Trent Thompson is back to lead the ‘Dogs D-Line into battle. I have a difficult time imagining the Gators pounding this unit, by just running the ball.

Key #1 for Georgia: Win the Line of Scrimmage Battle. Flip that around and the ‘Dogs end this skid!

If the Gators choose to “Sell Out” against the run and load up 7-8 in the box, Georgia’s offense appears to be in a good place throwing it around. Jake Fromm got Riley Ridley and Mecole Hardman involved against Missouri, which makes them more comfortable entering this game. Wims and Godwin already had chemistry with Fromm, so suddenly this receiving core looks deep.

Key #2 for Georgia: Don’t Forget to Protect the Ball! Fromm has done a nice job of staying away from turnovers. If Georgia can’t limit turning it over and not assisting the Gators, a big win looks very possible.

The Gators are in a bad place right now. Offense stinks. Fans are frustrated. There is talk of threats being made at players and coaches. A couple of Gator players are talking smack. I see a team that’s struggling to put it together.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are riding high! Focused and highly-motivated! Did I mention well-coached? Yes, they are that too. Expect a Bulldog victory this time.
